A Key Distinction: Learning Personalities, NOT Learning Styles
You may have heard someone say "I am a visual learner," and whilst this may be true, it is also true for the vast majority of people and hence, the statement is rendered insignificant as it does not hold much meaning. Further, existing learning preferences are often simply products of habits that have formed through past exposure to certain ways of learning. All people benefit from multiple learning styles and certain styles are more or less apt in different cases. Therefore, instead of trying to use just one learning style or modality to approach all kinds of learning and restricting yourself with limiting beliefs such as "I am not a reader and only a visual learner," we should understand that we should make situational judgments on when it might be best to equip yourself and employ specific learning styles. This practice, or the capacity in which a learner can perform this practice, is referred to as self-regulation. Learning personalities consist of different levels of development in the three main attributes of a learner: deep processing, self-regulation, and mindset. With our Learning Personality Test, we identify your strengths and weaknesses within those three areas and determine if your learner identity aligns with one of four categories: Minimalist, Evergreen, Dark Academia, or Night Owl.
